                                             Eiko Ishioka

Top 5 eikoism? What is that mean? This term is used by me for a inspiring person. In the memory of  a fascinator; Japanese art director and costume designer Eiko Ishioka. Her magical touch gives me the best inspiration sometimes. Ishioka art of costume design is speechless. Let’s look top 5 Eiko Ishioka works according to me…

5. Evil Queen In Mirror Mirror

I love Tarsem Singh but I’m upset with his “Mirror Mirror” as a movie. In this film only this Japanese Lady, Eiko Ishioka dresses are fascinating for me. Especially Evil Queen (Julia Roberts) wardrope. It is hard to pick a dress because they are all pretty, but  I have to…

This beautiful one:)

4. Welcome to the King Stargher’s Mind

Eiko designed costumes for Tarsem Singh’s The Cell in 2000. Demented King Stargher’s  (Vincent D’Onofrio) all costumes are amazing.  Her style like swimming in the red ocean…

Stargher’s stunning and charming costume…

 3. Erotically Charged Red Samurai

“I have crossed oceans of time to find you.”  Dracula

Eiko Ishioka played the tunes of Francis Ford Coppola’s Bram Stoker’s Dracula with her designs…Indeed Eiko Ishioka received an Academy Award for Best Costume Design for her designs in Dracula.

Who can forget  Dracula’s (Gary Oldman) red armor suit!

2. Mina’s Red Dinner Gown

Again Dracula…Victorian dresses of Mina (Winona Ryder) are gorgeous. Eiko Ishioka didn’t design the dresses she added her soul in it.

1. White In Lucy

“Come to me Quincey. Come my love. Leave these others, and we can rest together for eternity.”   Lucy Westenra

Then again one more and last time a dress in Dracula is my favorite of all Ishioka works. It’s definitely reinventing the art work…
